Stuart Wood
A Partner and Group Leader, Stuart Wood joined Heatherwick Studio in 2002 making him the longest serving member of the design and leadership team. With a background in Industrial Design, Stuart has led the broadest range of projects and some of the most iconic for the studio. These include Vessel, the centrepiece for Hudson Yards, in Manhattan’s West Side, the award-winning UK Pavilion for the 2010 Shanghai World, Transport for London’s 1000 New Routemaster bus fleet and the design phases of Google’s two new 1 million+ sqft headquarters in California, now in construction.
He has lead projects of all scales and typologies from experimental furniture to strategic city planning. With a clear focus on innovation and technology’s impact on future city design, Stuart leads a diverse portfolio of projects around the world including the U.K., United States, Canada, Singapore and Europe. These include a new 1 million sqft new home for Google in King’s Cross, London in partnership with BIG.
Elsewhere his group is delivering a 110m ice-breaking exploration vessel, a masterplan study for adaptable cities and the competition-winning design of a new terminal at Singapore’s Changi Airport in collaboration with KPF.
Group Leadership
In 2015 the studio created the role of Group Leader to support the growth in scale and number of its projects. Working with Thomas Heatherwick, Group Leaders are responsible for leading all aspects of a portfolio of projects from concept development through to delivery. They are also part of the studio’s senior management group, guiding business strategy, planning and process.
미국 미네소타 미네아폴리스 주립대학교 건축학부(복수전공 미술) 졸업과 프랑스 파리 발드센 고등 국립 건축 대학교 대학원 석사과정을 졸업, 프랑스 파리 말라께 국립건축대학교 건축사 과정을 통해 프랑스-유럽연합건축사 자격을 취득하였으며 동시에 대한민국 건축사이다.
서울의 공간 종합 건축사 사무소를 시작으로, 프랑스 파리 아뜰리에 장누벨(Ateliers Jean Nouvel)과 렌조피아노 빌딩 워크샵(Renzo Piano Building Workshop Paris)에서 건축 총괄 팀장으로, 도시계획에서부터 건축까지 다양한 실무경험을 쌓았다.
현재, 홍익대학교 건축도시대학 건축학부 겸임교수이며, (주)성 에 어소시에 건축사사무소 대표이다.
